Everlaw had built one of the most advanced ediscovery platforms in legal tech, earning adoption across leading law firms, corporations, and government agencies. But the brand still made it too easy to compare the company on the same terms as everyone else: features, functionality, and technical capability.
That undersold what Everlaw had actually created.
As legal work grew more complex, legal teams were being asked to navigate enormous volumes of disparate information, tighter deadlines, and increasing pressure to reach the facts quickly and confidently. Everlaw had built a platform designed for that reality. The opportunity was to make the value of that experience easier to recognize.
The Everlaw rebrand began with a larger idea: Truth Transforms. From there, we created a brand strategy, messaging system, visual identity, and digital expression that connected Everlaw’s technology to a more meaningful outcome—helping legal teams chart a straighter path to the truth and do more with what they find.
What We Learned Along the Way
A better product story starts beyond the product.
Everlaw had strong technology, but competing on technical capability alone kept the company inside a familiar category conversation. The strategic opportunity was to connect that capability to what legal teams were actually trying to accomplish: move through complexity, uncover what matters, and act with greater confidence. That shift gave the brand a larger role than simply explaining software.
Truth needed both conviction and restraint.
“Truth” was powerful territory for a legal technology company, but it could easily become overstated or subjective. We grounded the idea in Everlaw’s actual role: helping legal teams uncover the facts more efficiently and comprehensively. That gave the brand emotional force without implying that the platform decides what is true.
Serious work doesn’t require a severe brand.
Ediscovery carries real consequence, and Everlaw needed to retain the authority expected by legal professionals. But legacy legal technology often expressed seriousness through visual stiffness and complexity. We built a system that felt established and credible while becoming more open, human, and approachable—better reflecting the experience Everlaw wanted customers to have.
Bella Banbury, CEO, Emotive BrandIn a category where everyone can talk about speed, scale, and features, we wanted to give Everlaw a story competitors couldn’t simply repeat. Truth Transforms connected the power of the platform to the larger ambition of the legal teams using it.”
A Clearer Way Through the Data
Everlaw’s graphic system grew directly from the product experience. Converging, directing, and integrating patterns transformed scattered lines into ordered forms, creating a visual metaphor for what Everlaw helps legal teams do every day: move through massive amounts of disparate information and find a clearer path forward.
Building Authority Without the Stiffness
The identity needed to feel credible enough for consequential legal work without inheriting the visual codes of traditional legal technology. A simplified symbol, confident typography, open layouts, and a broader color palette gave Everlaw a more established presence while keeping the brand approachable and distinctly modern.
Putting People Back Into Legal Technology
Everlaw’s value isn’t only in what the platform can process. It is in what legal teams can do with the time, clarity, and confidence it creates. The photography system brought that human dimension forward, showing people in the context of real work and giving the brand more warmth without diminishing the seriousness of the category.
A System Built to Carry the Story
The new brand had to work far beyond a single launch moment. We extended the strategy and identity across the website, product storytelling, thought leadership, social, out-of-home, white papers, and other communications so Everlaw could express the same core idea at very different levels of technical and emotional intensity.
Experience that Works
Don’t make the category the hero.
Ediscovery itself is a significant technological advancement, but selling the category would have left Everlaw explaining why ediscovery matters rather than why Everlaw matters. We pushed past the basic functional story to focus on the experience and outcomes the company was uniquely positioned to deliver.
Find the idea the whole company can use.
Truth Transforms worked because it could stretch. It connected product capability, customer experience, company ambition, messaging, and visual expression without becoming a product slogan. That gave Everlaw one organizing idea capable of holding together a much broader range of communications.
Evolution can be more powerful than reinvention.
Everlaw did not need to discard everything it had built. The new logo evolved existing equity, while the broader system sharpened what the company already stood for and gave it more expressive range. The result was a brand that felt more mature and intentional without becoming unfamiliar.
Make the strategy visible.
A strong positioning only matters if people can recognize it in the work. The identity translated Everlaw’s strategic story into recurring visual behaviors: complexity becoming clarity, disparate elements becoming cohesive, and a path emerging through noise. That made the brand idea something people could see, not just something the company could say.
