Hello!

Field Note: No 005

Your champion needs help defending their AI spend.

Chief Revenue OfficerEnterprise BuyingAI Transformation

The person who believes in your product still has to persuade the people funding it. Give them evidence they can use when the conversation turns from what your AI does to what the business gets back.

This week, Gartner reported that 44% of CEOs struggle to demonstrate AI’s financial returns. Only 13% of CIOs in a separate survey reported significant or transformational AI value.

On October 21, Gartner urged organizations to connect token usage to business value, while forecasting worldwide IT spending would grow 15% to $7.35 trillion in 2027.

For a CRO, the implication is specific: a claim of “hours-saved” still leaves your buyer in need of evidence connecting that time to financial return.

Before the next budget review, rebuild one customer proof page around the financial result and the cost of achieving it. Explain what the customer had to change, and distinguish measured results from projections.
